Magpie Murders by Anthony Horowitz

4.0

Anthony Horowitz is one of my favorite authors when it comes to clever, new-thinking whodunnits. It's a wonder it took me so long to get around to this one and it certainly lived up to expectations. We know from the start that it's a book-within-a-book. It starts with a warning from the editor, Susan Ryeland. It then progresses into a little 1950's village where the gossip is rife after the death of a cleaning lady, supposedly by accident. Eventually there is an unequivocal murder and a private investigator, Atticus Pünd, arrives on the scene. At about half way through, our books switches to Susan Ryeland trying to solve the mystery of her best-selling author's death. It was clever and fun from start to finish!
