At All Costs by John Gilstrap
4.0
Jake and Carolyn Brighton are ordinary citizens with a big secret in their past - they're at the top of America's Most Wanted list. Fourteen years ago, they were charged with murder and creating a huge environmental disaster. Now they live under the radar, taking low paying jobs that don't require much in the way background checks and staying off the grid as much as possible. When Jake's cover is blown in a totally unlucky coincidence, they have to go on the run and try to clear their names.
When I first read this book a long time ago (after buying the paperback at BORDERS!), the family love and justice themes really shined through and I absolutely loved it. On re-reading the Kindle version, the rest of the book doesn't hold up quite as well. The FBI plot just seems a little too easy and formulaic. The book is still really good, but the supporting elements take you out of it just a bit.
