Bunny Drop, Vol. 1
by Yumi Unita
When Daikichi takes some time away from his desk-jockey sales job to attend his grandfather's funeral, the last thing he expects to come home with is a 6-year-old. Rin is his grandfather's daughter (mother: unknown), and the rest of Daikicki's family wants nothing to do with her. Astounded by their indifference, even cruelty, he takes her in and becomes her guardian--despite knowing nothing about women and less about children.
Robin Brenner (of No Flying, No Tights) once told me that, when I found the right books that clicked for me, I'd no longer have the problem I've had in reading manga (namely, following the sequence of the right-to-left action). I didn't believe her at the time, but it turns out the stories that click for me are the realistic family dramas. And this is a great one. I hope Yen Press sticks around long enough to publish the whole series in English!
