It Looks Like Us by Alison Ames
4.0

This is one of my first forays into the horror genre, and what a perfect time to read it too, with Alien Romulus just coming out.

At first, this did remind me of the Alien series quite a bit, mostly in the setting and the way tension was built up. I did have to stop reading this at one point, because it was getting dark, and I was house sitting - alone and in a strange environment did not bode well for a comfortable evening. I wish I would have kept going though, because stopping did lose some of that momentum and terror that had been building through the day.

Coming back to the book, it was still satisfying. Being told through the point of view of someone with anxiety and panic attacks added to the tension, and the paranoia aspect.

All in all, I was very satisfied with this surprise read - recommended by my mom of all people, who hates horror with a passion! She was right though, it was right up my alley, and I'm excited to see if it gets checked out much from her high school library!
