A Lifetime Kissing You
by Riley Hart
This book was just….wow. Brian must be saved at all costs. He’s just the most honest, real, sweet, kind little bean. I love that this book had its heroes in their 40s. Addressed loneliness, anxiety, putting emotional intimacy front and center. Both Charles and Brian had their issues, but they were grown ups who communicated, even when it was difficult. No games were being played here. No lies, not even to themselves. It was honestly very refreshing to see. So, when the book was 2/3 and everything seemed hunky dory, just waiting for the third act…….wasn’t due to miscommunication at all. Where in other books, the situation with Brian overhearing Charles’s mom would have led to a running away…..in this book Brian waited for her to leave and then…gasp….let Charles know he overheard and they needed to talk!! Tears were shed, insecurities aired, truths spoken. But no break up. Not even a whiff of one. Wish more books were like this.
