I listened to the audiobook. Completed this 15 hour listen over 4 days. I was drawn in from the beginning and was so inspired by this well researched, in-depth nonfiction book. This is a “must read” for all feminists, women’s rights advocates, and all who advocate for high quality mental health care standards. I was not at all familiar with Elizabeth Packard who was one determined, strong, brilliant, and brave woman whose positive impacts are still felt today. The post-note by the author is a reminder of how much more needs to be accomplished and advocated for women’s rights, equality, and smashing (my wording) the patriarchy.
At times the story was so in-depth and detailed, I struggled to stay focused on it. Thus my rating of 4.75 stars rather than 5.
