3.4/5 - I preferred the first book to this one. I think if the books had been more carefully curated they could have been one book. Overall I give the two 4/5 and would still suggest reading them! I enjoyed the Egyptian setting and the archaeological mystery backdrop. I also enjoyed the ending of the book. However, I felt Inez made a lot of terrible decisions and trusted way too easily. I could not get over Whit giving away her entire fortune, even if he supposedly made up for it later - where is the trust in their relationship. I also didn’t love the father reveal, it would have been nice for her to have one good parent. Also Isadora’s side story ugh - not my fav. Overall a decent duology but this one lowered it for me
