Foiled Stars is the first book in Foiled Stars series, a YA Dark Sci-fi Romance series, penned by Jennifer Ascienzo. It's an engaging debut that swept me away from the very beginning.
On an ominous night, Autumn Ramon and Dante Martyne cross paths at Farrah Falls, a popular hiking site near the town of Monroe, New York. Their encounter is anything but ordinary: Dante’s spaceship crashes, leaving him stranded on Earth. Autumn, a human, and Dante, an alien, find themselves drawn together despite their vastly different personalities and cultural backgrounds. As their worlds collide, the fate of their friends and families hangs in the balance.
The opening sentence—‘Conquering forty-seven planets in fifty-three days was a record for Dante’—immediately ensnares the reader. Despite Dante being the villain, I find myself inexplicably drawn to him. Jennifer Ascienzo’s writing style is cinematic and effortlessly readable, breathing life into both main and side characters. The intricate world she weaves promises even greater revelations in the sequel.
All in all, 'Foiled Stars' is a fast-paced sci-fi romance tale that can easily fascinate readers regardless their age. Whether you’re a romance enthusiast or a fan of Star Wars and Star Trek, this book promises an unforgettable journey.
Many thanks to Jennifer Ascienzo for giving me the opportunity to read the eARC of her beautiful debut.
