Five Survive by Holly Jackson

5.0

THE WAY that this book made me feel all kinds of emotions omg! Reading Five Survive was a rollercoaster ride. I haven't finished a book in a day for ages, but then Five Survive came into my life and said, "You know what? I am not letting you sit in peace until you finish reading me." And boy oh boy! The plot twists, the grand reveals ~ everything about the storyline blew my mind away!

I didn't expect to feel so emotional while reading Five Survive too. When Red (the main character) was reminiscing about her mother and thinking about all the betrayals she had to face and had been facing in RV made me tear up a lot of times. The author's writing style is so beautiful! I don't know how she managed to include such mesmerizing writing in a thriller book that had SO. MUCH. TENSION. but she did.The themes of guilt and childhood trauma were handled with great care as well. I tabbed a lot of lines that moved me. (there was a lot!)

The ending broke me. I think my jaw was hanging the entire time I was reading the last chapter. Because Holly Jackson managed to pack more dramatic reveals until the last page. I don't think I'll ever get over the ending!!

I suggest reading Five Survive without reading the entire blurb on Goodreads (that's just me honestly, I like going into thriller books blindly) but for this one, I think you'll enjoy the book the most for the unexpected-ness of it. So just pick it up and devour it hehe. The book is a bit slow in the beginning though. But after the first 50-60 pages, the pacing picks up and the intrigue kicks in! So please be patient while reading it 💞
