The Goldfinch by Donna Tartt
5.0
reflective slow-paced
Plot or Character Driven: Character
Strong character development: Yes
Loveable characters: Complicated

The Goldfinch was utterly nauseating. Because of how close the first-person narration was, the entirety of the book seems to be so intertwined within my own mind that, in brief examination, it feels far more like my own memories than those of Theo Decker. To say I loved this book would do a great injustice to the actual amount of adoration I have for it, and, frankly, the way in which I am thinking about it (which is something that I cannot fully describe without losing any sort of illusion of sanity in the eyes of my friends), is perhaps not ironic, but fitting. What a book.
