About a Boy by Nick Hornby

5.0

Halfway through the book, I had the impression that About a Boy was just another book echoing what my mother told me during my early teens: to go against the norm and be myself despite what other people say. Don't get me wrong - I would've loved the book more had it ended that way. It was neither satisfying nor disappointing but rather too human. This is the second Hornby book I've gotten my hands on and I must say that he has yet to fail to open my eyes and see things in a different light, things that I've never paid attention to until now. Hornby takes human emotion and puts them into words that are sometimes too raw and beautiful for me to take in and I love it.
