The Constantine Codex
by Paul L. Maier
If you can handle dialogue that is stilted and quite frankly would make Stephanie Meyer groan, historical details that for whatever reason the author feels the need to reveal in said stilted dialogue, silliness such as an Associated Press news article that ends with "The Associated Press will provide full coverage of this important event" even though NO AP news article ever has or ever would contain such stupidity (not even Kennedy's assassination), the extreme use of other words than said to convey thoughts not adequately explained, then this is the book for you.
I'm plowing through it in hopes the story will save itself from the author's execrable writing style but it's not happening. In fact, it's getting worse and more preposterous as we go. And not even in a Dan Brown/Brad Meltzer "would anyone really think this way" kind of weird.
Oh, and Maier takes shots at Dan Brown who, flaws in perceived importance aside, actually can write.
