3.5 stars! I thoroughly enjoyed the first several sections of this book! While dry at times, I loved learning about the animals and landscape of the arctic. Lopez writes fondly of a place that many believe to be a barren wasteland. This book will make you think otherwise! I did have to make myself finish the last chapter, full of brief descriptions of arctic endeavors by men whose names did not stick with me.
