It took me nearly a year to finish reading this, but I'll probably come back to reread it over the next few days/weeks as I listen to more of the music that they discuss. (One of the reasons why it took so long was because I knew I needed more time to listen to the works they discussed to really get this book.)

You know, of the things that I have come to realize love is watching *other people* love something...that's pretty much what you get to do as you read this book. Watch two deep lovers of classical music discuss their thoughts, feelings, and experiences of loving.

It felt a tad name drop-y at times, BUT! I think that's also partially (largely) because I just don't know as much about these musicians, conductors, or composers as they do. And on the plus side, I have a LOT of listening homework from this name dropping.

I've always wondered what conducting was like and how one prepared for a job like that, and through their conversations, I got a sense for the grueling work, attention, and love it takes. I definitely will appreciate live conducted music that much more in the future.

Gotta say, I've been introduced to some really nice pieces thanks to this book too.
