Three siblings, a fractured family, a suicide — these are the moving elements of this little book of poetic verses that will make your heart ache and numb your mind.

But there's always hope, as the writer churns and weaves the fabrics of words that's not only beautiful to read but also intense to feel and live.

In the God's Own Country, Kochu, Achu, and Mol had a troubled childhood with an abusive father and an anxiety-laden mother.

When Kochu's gender identity is questioned and ridiculed, he leaves a note and take his life for good.

The dysfunctional family goes completely in shambles and in disarray when Achu the elder one ponders over the happenings and reminiscence about her birth, childhood, teenage life, heartbreak, depression, self-harming, etc.

The author has divided the book into three sections, and gradually moves from innocent childhood days to maniacal mental health issues.

This is a noticeable literary work from an Indian women writer that is grief-ridden yet gracefully interlacing the human emotions with mallu humour and pop culture of Kerala.

A must-read.
