Wreck My Plans is a short and sweet, brother’s best friend romance. Lena and Gavin have been attracted to each other for ten years but, for the last three, haven’t been in contact after Gavin stopped coming to Lena’s family Christmas. She has no idea why he left, and he has no desire to explain it. When Gavin comes back to the Santos house for Christmas under the assumption that Lena will be away that year, all their feelings rush to the surface and they have to figure out how they can get through the week in a civilised fashion (without falling in love).

Lena and Gavin’s chemistry is obvious from the off, and I really enjoyed their interactions. They both created a safe space for each other without really trying, which just proves how fated their connection was. We do eventually find out why Gavin stopped coming for Christmas and it was slightly disappointing. Though I understood his reaction to an extent, Lena’s was either not described well enough or was just a huge overreaction. She mentioned
being embarrassed by Gavin, but didn’t mention that anybody actually witnessed his dance rejection. The whole scene was very bizarre and didn’t seem to warrant the repercussions. It felt childish.

The family, friends and community depicted in this book are gorgeous. I fell in love with them all. We get little information about anybody so it’s all very surface-level but each character seems to be genuinely good and kind. I rooted for them all.

I’d have loved if this book could have been longer so we’d get the extra background information about Lena, Gavin’s last three years, and everything in between. However, regardless, I really enjoyed this read. It was easy, relaxing and just the right amount of cosy.
