An entertaining school story of kids from disparate social groups thrown together. The robotics Club and the cheerleaders are scrapping over the same school funds that will help get them to their respective championships and nice guy/clique straddler Charlie finds himself caught in the crossfire.

Granted, we are dealing with some familiar territory here and the characters, while likeable, fall into fairly predictable categories: the mean girl cheerleader, the Freddie Prize Jr.-esque jock with a secret soft side, the unapologetic misunderstood genius whose brilliance doesn't extend into people skills...but it's a fun read nonetheless and Hicks' art as usual, breathes a lot of life and heart into the characters. I don't know if Shen would appreciate the comparison, though I mean this in a good way...it has the feel of Glee in its early giddy, days, when it was the guilty pleasure du jour and most days the worst our loveable losers had to face was a dramatic slushie-ing in the main hallway.
