In my opinion, the strongest of the Longmire short stories. I think what aids this the most is that it's a collection, and each of the stories in the collection are strong entries. It's always a risk with short story collections - I've read several where some are good, but rarely all.

The Toys for Tots one is probably the best, if I get my say. It really boils down what makes Walt such a respectable character. He's never in it for the fame or glory, and I don't think that's a common message in modern media - that it's okay just to do things for the sake of doing them.

If you're going to choose one Longmire short story and skip the rest, make this the one you choose.
