The City We Became by N.K. Jemisin

Cities always seem to have some sort of life to them. The streets breathing or the lights winking but it just seems life like. In this book cities are real living breathing entities and New York has six avatars but they don't know how to protect the city and the city will die without them.

N.K. Jemisin must have put crack in these pages because I swear I haven't eaten up a book like I did this book in a very long time. The characters were amazing. Even the characters who are just side characters have so much depth to them. If you take any of these characters out the story wouldn't make sense. That's just how masterful this book is written. Also anyone who is less masterful with the craft would have been unable to make this book make sense. A book about cities that have avatars and can be killed. Only someone who has a masterful hold on craft would be able to write this book.

It really was amazing. I definitely recommend this book to anyone who really enjoys urban fantasy or someone who is looking to get into urban fantasy or just wants to read a really great book.
