Nazi Literature in the Americas by Roberto Bolaño

4.0

No one ever thinks to write fun books anymore. This is one of those rare fun books.

Here, Bolano writes a fictional encyclopedia of Fascist authors, complete with biographies, bibliographies, their romantic lives, triumphs and downfalls. It's got a few genuinely funny moments but its entertaining and witty throughout. Now if reading about a fictional Nazi intelligentsia in the America's isn't your thing, I'm not sure you really know how to party.

I skipped the post script entirely but I'm sure the whole thing is chocked with references. I always wonder how someone ever gets inspired to write something as strange as this but the novelty of the idea alone hooked me in. Read this if you like Po-Mo, it's Bolano's shortest book too afaik.
