This is an interesting one… I didn’t hate it…. But I had to force myself to finish it…. But it wasn’t hard to force myself to finish it…
This read a bit like a queer person who love their queer group so much that they wanted to write a Scooby-doo esque book about them. It’s cute, but it somewhat felt too close to reality for a fantasy book to my taste?
Also the whole Theodore death thing storyline really annoyed me. It felt so superficial and I wished the author spent a good chapter explaining his murder and the grief that the characters went through to deal with it
Overall it’s a cute book with lots of fab representation. I read it because I wanted something like Dead Boy Detectives, but it felt more like a mix between Sabrina the witch and Scooby-doo. But if that sounds great to you, then you’ll probably love it!
