Ravishing the Heiress by Sherry Thomas

5.0

This is a book that I just know is going to live in my head for a very long time. It’s almost like a marriage in trouble, but not. It’s unrequited love and friends-to-lovers at its finest, but it’s also probably the best book about marriage I’ve ever read. When I talk about romance being the most varied fiction genre and that there’s something for everyone, I mean it. This story might not be something everyone will like, but for me, I stumbled on it at just the right time and enjoyed it so much I had to stay up all night reading.

The quality of this writing is just unbelievable. Some romance novels are forgettable, skimmable, and forgettable. This isn’t one of those. It has exactly the right amount of words and not a single word out of place. The subtlety and in every scene makes you want to slow down and savor everything. I loved the time-jumps, which is another aspect not everyone enjoys, but I love when an author reveals exactly what they want us to know about a character, and at just the right moment, even if we have to go back 8 years and back again.

This will be a re-read for me for sure. I feel like this is a book I could give the snobbiest of literature geeks. It’s just an excellent read.
