Black Boy Out of Time: A Memoir by Hari Ziyad

challenging emotional hopeful reflective medium-paced

I really enjoyed this. It was a love letter to an inner child lost that reflected on the traumas of growing up in this world. It was intimate and enlightening. As someone who’s a queer Latina woman having grown up in a largely black community, this moved me so deeply to see bits of Hari’s story reflect the lives of some of the people closest to me and to see some of my own life experiences through the lens of anti-blackness. Thank you Hari for being vulnerable with the world and telling your story.
