I know others have argued that part one and part two don’t jive, but let me hit you with this. The first part of the book is death without grief and the second is grief without death.
The vampire section is everything I wanted, bloody, raw, monstrous. She also remains unnamed throughout the entire book, and I adore an unnamed MC
The human section is… wretched, in a good way. She’s crushed under the weight of her mothers inevitable demise. It was cathartic, to me. I’ve read a few books about grief this year, and this is my favorite so far.
