The Names by Florence Knapp
5.0

I rarely give 5 stars to a book and when I do it’s because I want to reread it over and over.

It’s different for The Names. I don’t think I will revisit this for a long time.

Knapp captures the lives of her characters in such a well thought out way it makes me feel like she’d lives 100 lives before writing this.

The writing was smart and challenging. I have finished this book feeling like I have been a bit naive. The brutality and complexity of the domestic abuse throughout the book will sit with me for a long time.

On a much lighter note, reading about the covid lockdown from three different perspectives was fascinating. I am sure it will appear in literature and media in the future but it was almost cathartic to read.
