*casual review
Updated 8/10/10: I originally posted a longer, sort of stream of consciousness, thoughts on the book kind of review. But the book has really been in my head the last few days and I'm finding that the more distance I get from it, the more I like it. I feel like I'm still processing Annabel's journey and, in my own way, still learning from it. Therefore, I've erased most of my previous review. Below are just the parts that feel most true. I really liked this book.
This book is very, very much about Annabel, but I found that I liked reading about Owen and his relationship with Annabel the most. He's such a unique character and I really loved the way the two of them balanced each other out.
I also liked Annabel's overall story and her struggle to figure out who she is in light of the slow destruction of the things that have previously defined her life: friendships, modeling, and a self image that she never really felt at home with.
I'd recommend this book and will definitely check out other books by Sarah Dessen.
