mdubielak 's review for:
King: A Life
by Jonathan Eig
Accessible, clear, and realistic are the first words I use to describe Jonathan Eig's biography of Rev King. Beginning with unprecedented descriptions of King's grandparents and parents, Eig gives the reader a view of his roots, surroundings, and upbringing. This context helps readers to understand the man, his motives, and his relationships especially as they related to his life's work.
I felt a tiny bit of the pressure of what it was to be a black person in the racist USA then (and now.) This is a credit to the subject and the author. This is a tremendous book - highly recommended!
