The Narrow Road Between Desires by Patrick Rothfuss

5.0

When compared to Name of the Wind, or The Slow Regard of Silent Things, this book merits a four star review. I'm willing to tack on an extra quarter point for the illustrations and fantastic name.

4.25 in Goodreads purview means I really super like it, on the edge of love. There is, however, some sort of review kerfuffle currently underway, with The Narrow Road Between Desires being "brigaded" in a dizzying display of ignorant lunacy.

This adds to the fun: trolling depraved asshats is more than worth an extra 0.75 points. Especially when those addlepated twits believe that their entitlement extends to somehow being owed just desserts for a charitable contribution. Donating to charity is its own damn reward.

Yeah, Pat made a promise that he couldn't keep. I mean it sucks, we all have done it, every human alive, and you've all managed to forgive yourselves. But thinking that somehow you'll, what, sue a fucking charity over an unfinished chapter? Just stop.

Pat is one of the most talented storytellers in existence. Up there with Dolly Parton, though not nearly as clever as Pratchett he's just as compelling. Leave the man alone to work on his art. We're all going to be richer for it, as evidenced by the absolute delight found in his phenomenal sharing of The Narrow Road Between Desires.

Thanks Pat! I'm delighted to wait as long as it takes for the next one.
