merawlee 's review for:
A Lady for a Duke
by Alexis Hall
At first, when I picked it up, I thought "meh, another historical romance à la Harlequin". I knew nothing of this author so I opened the book to quickly peruse its style and ouf! I was not expecting this at all.
Needless to say, I bought it.
What a twist on the HEA genre! It was so well rendered, nicely descriptive. Viola's courage to be true to herself in such a society when such things simply did not "exist" (naturally, they did but were so hidden), her insecurities, everything about her rang true.
I truly enjoyed it. Also, I did not expect it to get steamy but boy did it ever!
Everyone deserves to have a protagonist with whom they can identify. Kudos to the author for writing this novel. As a mother of a trans son, inclusion is everything.
