A fascinating and disturbing story. Kate Beaton’s Ducks is remarkable in many ways. The story of her two years in the oil camps is just a must read.
It tackles major issues in modern societies without ever going the fast and easy way. It shows things as they are, as they happen, as they are ignored by most of us.
From sexual assault to climate change, many “uneasy” topics are in this superb book. It should be read, I’d put it as mandatory reading in high school. Beaton is a great writer and artist and her story deserves to be read and talked about.
