An astonishing, delightful ride! I found _Exadelic_ clever, irreverent, darkly comedic, philosophical without feeling like work, lucid yet incredibly weird, with references especially rewarding for a fan of PKD and as a seasoned systems engineer who lived, worked, and played in the SF Bay Area.
The real feat of this novel is not any one Big Idea, but that Evans took a stack of existing technical principles and familiar theories and carefully laid out a cantilever extending over a precipice. The center of gravity moves until, at the limit, the read is suspended over thin air and it definitely seems like magic.
Is it hard scifi or mad fantasy? Good luck teasing that apart.
