Shine Bright: A Very Personal History of Black Women in Pop by Danyel Smith

emotional funny informative inspiring reflective sad fast-paced

5.0

This work of art was amazing to read and explore.  As of late, I've been gratefully interested in the history that was happening when I was in my naive youth, and even more of the more recent past.  I've been an avid listener of Black Girl Songbook, the podcast by the author, Danyel Smith and it like the book does not disappoint!  The incorporation of her life during the times of the women of pop celebrated in this book is what we didn't know we needed!  It was a hot to read, I never wanted it to end, but I couldn't put it down!
