The Weight of Blood by Tiffany D. Jackson

As a fan of Carrie and a black woman myself this retelling ATE DOWN!!!! I loved the racial twist on the story, it gave much more reasoning as to why she would snap the way she did. The formatting and pace of this book as well was brilliantly done. It easily kept me engaged (and that’s coming from a mood reader with ADHD).
And the ending??? I love a good ambiguous ending.

(Spoilers from this point forward)

Let me start with: I love Kendrick. I didn’t at first, I thought he was a sell out but then he met Maddy and it was kind of like they started learning and growing together which created this immense bond and intense love. He wanted to give her the world, and because we know he didn’t die and she didn’t die, I hope he was able to do that.

Wherever you are Maddy. I hope that you’re happy. You deserve to be happy ❤️
