i first read this book because i had liked the ghibli movie. the novel is SO much better than the film its crazy!! it throws out a million disparate details that all converge at the end. there's not a single aspect of this book that doesn't become relevant. sophie's character is so interesting and howl's backstory is more elaborate. there's an extra layer to the world in this book that they don't explore in the movie that turns the whole story on its head. really good book. so much had been changed for the ghibli movie that even if you've seen it, this book will still be a fresh experience for you.
