I wanted more science and less self-indulgence.
It would have been possible for this book to be about phosphorescence/bioluminescence in its various forms as metaphors for hope in dark times. Beauty from decay, communication across distances, creating in ourselves what we need - the analogies are there to explore, even if it retained the memoir format.
Alas, I was disappointed.
