One Golden Summer by Carley Fortune

I'm not sure why I hesitated to read this. Maybe because it was a new author for me or because I didn't read the first book and felt I couldn't get into the story of the sequel. But I was wrong. This was beautiful and timeless. Their love story was fascinating and the heroine was refreshing. She lives freely and so does Charlie. Their friendship and love story was an amazing experience and I am glad to be a part of it.
Alice did make me angry at moments when she wasn't respecting the boundaries that Charlie so clearly set. She also tried to push her feelings onto him in a way that made me feel quesy but I totally get putting your feelings out there and taking the risk.
Charlie obviously had more happening in his life than he was letting on and it frustrated me that Alice couldn't see that. Maybe think with your brain, piecing the clues together instead of the lust brain takeover. But I also do understand how your brain can get muddled when emotions are involved.
All in all, this story felt real and emotional and beautiful. I am glad I took the leap and read the art that the author left for us.
