New Year's Kiss by Lee Matthews
3.0
Very cute New Year's Eve story.
3.5 stars - there's a very sudden shift in both how the sister and grandmother behave toward Tess that I felt didn't work quite as well; like going from indifferent/argumentative and indifferent/dictatorial to "everyone is friends, happy now" isn't just fixed over breakfast one morning. It needed a little more work and given that it's such a short book, there just wasn't space in the narrative to do it well.
Other than that, this is a good teen romcom-ish book set at a holiday other than Christmas with a main character who's really trying to figure out who she wants to be as she edges toward adulthood.
