Clockwork Princess by Cassandra Clare

5.0

Most books yearn to make you laugh, cry, scream, stalk around your house, throw the book, want to set something on fire, make your heart swell with pride, break your soul, and mend it. Cassandra Clare has managed to do all of these in each book of this series, as well as just in the epilogue of this book. I have always loved The Mortal Instruments, however, I love this much more. The main character, Tessa, is very headstrong, well educated, and calculating. She is a hero. She loves two men, William and James, but make no mistake. This series isn't a love triangle. Cassandra Clare ties it all together perfectly. A book to reread and re-cry over. A book to mend and break and mend your heart. I don't think I've ever loved a series as much as I love this. Her characters are real people. They're your friends. You grow with them. You mourn their deaths. You laugh when they laugh. You high five their sassy comments. The only reason I'm not crying that this is only a trilogy is the fact that I can read it over and over again. It feels like coming home. You kindled me, heap of ashes that I am, into fire.
