gobeit 's review for:
The Grapes of Wrath
by John Steinbeck
I had to pause for over a month in the middle of this novel because my own life had enough sadness that I couldn’t take on the Joads. No one needs my review of The Grapes of Wrath, but God, this is a great book. It’s so terribly long and I wanted more after the last page. It’s a great tool to learn about our own history, but it breaks your heart over and over again. Steinbeck is a genius who really loved the American people and the land; there’s no other way he could have written such a sincere, wrenching novel. Move this off of your “someday” list- it’s a more than worthwhile read.
