I always enjoy stories that are a bit of a farce, when you start with a silly scheme that gets out of hand and goes rocketing from situation to situation. I adored Freddy, a standard bearer of fashion and decorum but certainly no brainiac, and watching him work his brain to get Kitty out of scrapes and think of ways to present their situation as perfectly normal and absolutely respectable. He managed to fool quite a lot of people and even managed to impress his father! I found Kitty to be a bit immature, but overall the story is charming. I don't find it as good as some Heyer's other books simply because while I can fathom Freddy being very fond of Kitty, I don't actually feel that he's fallen in love at the end.
