A Gentleman in Moscow by Amor Towles
4.0
What a strange and lovely book. Somehow gently gripping despite there not being much in particular to be gripped by. A main character who ought to have been an insufferable snob, but for a heart of gold and a ridiculous amount of charm. The bizarre perspective lent itself really well to reflections on the passage of time, and there was something bittersweet about the way the Count's love of Russia endures despite everything, right through to the end when it must surely be almost unrecognisable to him.
