Wow what a story. The kind that can only come from someone inside of the horrors and hardships of abuse. Yet it never felt like an expose; Shari’s story in her own words took me into the life of a child that was never hers to live. My heart broke for her family and the changes it went through without any consent from those who were most affected. Some moments truly broke my heart. But the tough moments were redeemed by Shari’s determination and love for family she could not leave behind. This will be an important memoir cataloging what it was to grow up with the boom of social media, when it turned from entertainment to life itself.
Moderate: Emotional abuse, Sexual assault, Suicidal thoughts, Toxic relationship, Religious bigotry
