A decent novel length ghost story for young people. The book is a little dated, and the characters are perhaps more frustrating than I expected, but overall the story is a good one. I must admit, I am picky about ghost stories; nothing annoys me more than helpful ghosts or sympathetic spirits. While there is a bit of the latter in this book, it doesn't overwhelm the real menace conjured up in the figure of Helen.
