Thoroughly delightful. It's true what everyone is saying about it being "old fashioned." It's got the feel of books like The Wolves of Willoughby Chase, or Pippi Longstocking, or even as a friend suggested, A Little Princess. Probably 4.5 stars, only losing points for what felt like a bit of an abrupt (although satisfying) ending, and an overall sense that it was too short. But the characters are great, the adventures hair-raising, and everyone's heart is in the right place (except the baddies'). I LOVED Charles and want to marry him.
