As for Me and My House by Sinclair Ross
5.0

As for Me and My House by Sinclair Ross is a compelling portrayal of a woman's internal struggles set in a small, isolated prairie town. The novel is told through the perspective of Mrs. Bentley, the wife of a pastor, who grapples with feelings of loneliness, frustration, and emotional confinement in her marriage. As the narrative unfolds, her introspections reveal a deep yearning for connection, self-expression, and liberation from societal expectations. The book skillfully captures her internal battle, as she contemplates her identity and role within the rigid structure of both her marriage and the community. I absolutely loved the writing style, which is both lyrical and poignant, effortlessly capturing the emotional complexity of the protagonist. The portrayal of Mrs. Bentley's inner life is powerful; her strength, resilience, and quiet rebellion resonate deeply, making her journey of self-discovery truly captivating.

This is one of the book from my syllabus of new literature, and I'm glad that through my syllabus I'm getting to explore these types of beautiful books, because we do not often see these types of books in trending list, especially when I see people recommending same books over and over I really feel pity for them, they don't even know what they are loosing real gold in the search of diamond.
