Absolutely LOVED the heroine for how realistically she was portrayed. Typically in books like this where the heroine is introduced to a whole new world, they're too reckless and impractical, they don't ask questions properly. They jump in without any regard to how much knowledge and power they actually have, which always annoys me a little as that is not relatable at all, the same way horror movie characters aren't relatable. So the change of pace was really nice as this heroine is basically a cross between Harry Potter and Hermione Granger in terms of how she reacted to being introduced to a new world. She wasn't unnecessarily reckless or taking chances that put others at risk. She took all the preparation she could and had actual interest in learning new stuff on her own rather than having the typical "oh I'll deal with it when it's directly in front of me, punching me in the face"-attitude.

All in all, a practical heroine REALLY made this book stand out for me. I only wish I had started after all the books got released, but who knows how long that'll take.
