Fix Her Up by Tessa Bailey

i really don’t know where to start.
i went into this with low expectations. the plot itself was a little questionable but better than i expected. the sex scenes were so, so much worse. i think i might have generally liked this book if they were fade to black OR if they ever discussed their sex lives and set boundaries. another reviewer mentioned this, but they were engaging pretty heavily in dom/sub and ddlg dynamics without ever acknowledging it and that just made me extremely uncomfortable. it gives a bad name to bdsm and is unsafe, and even though i know it’s just a book, some of the scenes literally made me want to throw up because of this issue.
i also wish more people in georgie’s family would’ve taken her seriously without travis having to step in. the male savior plot points were not it. other than that i liked her relationships with her family (stephen is the biggest asshole ever and i hate him, but maybe thats just realistic family vibes idk). travis’ inner turmoil was far more interesting than them having sex, some actual talking between the characters would’ve helped me love their romance more. instead i felt like they only cared about fucking, like even when georgie accepts his proposal the first thing he says is how he cant wait to get home and push her against a wall. tbh i am worried for the authors relationships because if everything she wrote in this is something she perceives as healthy and okay?? yikes.
also if i took a shot for every time she said “laughed humorlessly” or some variation, i’d be dead.
also one line that stood out to me as particularly fucking awful was “there was a fuzzy koala doing somersaults in her stomach, tickling her ribs and pressing down on her unmentionable parts” WHAT IS THAT???? would be the worst thing i’ve ever read, if not for my next point:
also creepy incest vibes obviously “little sister tit” yeah wtf.
also everything in general was so unrealistic. they just gave this man a broadcasting job cause his gf can juggle without ever having him test run some games??? playing baseball and calling a game are so different that would literally never happen. i know i’m overreacting but it really was the final straw and i found it disrespectful to how mlb broadcasting works tbh. and then his first game he proposes on air then leaves during the game (maybe not during it idek i tuned out at this point but either way fire him bro).

this book was a huge mess but i will be reading more from tessa bailey because i want to see how bad it can get i guess?
