The Wager: A Tale of Shipwreck, Mutiny, and Murder
by David Grann
So gripping and vivid it’s hard to believe this is nonfiction about something that happened 300 years ago. Grann illustrates the darkly hilarious farce that is fighting in a pointless imperial war, as well as the disgusting ideologies and acts of that empire. What unbelievable horrors we inflict on ourselves for something as stupid as, and I can’t believe this is what it’s called, The War of Jenkins’ Ear.
