Daylighters by Rachel Caine

3.0

I had a real rollercoaster of opinions with this book. I liked it because it explored the idea of humans taking over Morganville and becoming the ‘new vampires’. There was a creation of new dangerous creatures to fight the vampires and a new way to end vampirism? I loved the different ideas.

BUT I’m not convinced by this book. I feel like the last book in the series should have been a lot better than this. I took it slowly in hope that I could make it last and it would get better. The ideas weren’t bad, I just feel like they could have explored certain ideas more thoroughly which would’ve made it a more exciting book. The ideas seemed to jump around a lot and everything happened fairly quickly, which is another reason why it would’ve benefitted with fewer, more developed ideas.

Also, I think the book ended too quickly. All of the drama was over and then suddenly everyone was happy and the book ended. I think I would’ve preferred a more developed ending which would explain what would happen to Morganville or maybe what happened to the characters in the future? Maybe an extra chapter jumping into the future would’ve made this 4 stars instead of 3.

I loved this whole series and I will miss reading it. It is going straight on my re-read list for the future. Goodbye Morganville, goodbye Myrnin.
