A MUST READ. I loved reading this, because I really need to become more educated on the reality of the black experience in America. I love this raw look at the effects of police brutality and how that injustice affects so many lives. I highly recommend this book to everyone, it is a must read. I want to read more books by this author and books similar to this to really educate myself about how messed up the system really is. It was such a great explanation, of THUGLIFE acronym, and it is so true. The system is stacked against minorities and brings in and exacerbates the problem. This whole book made me realize just how privileged I am, and made me want to scream, I was so angry at the injustices in the book. I am so privileged to not have lived through or experienced something like this first hand. It was so eye opening. Anyways, loved this so much.

I really liked the movie, but it absolutely does not do this book justice. This book is just phenomenal. I understand why they left some parts out, because if it really were to do the book justice, the movie would be like 3 hours long.
